Premik & Friends with Premik's Annual Birthday Bash Celebration

Premik together with friends will bring you a very special night at the Bean Runner Cafe this Friday night.

All invited to join in the party as this has been the decided night for Premik's annual BIRTHDAY BASH!

As always there will be top line-up of musicians giving voice to their instruments to be sure to break any preoccupation remaining from the grind of your work week. Let the music transport you to another place and time of rhythms and textures!

Premik Russell Tubbs is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist who will perform this night on various flutes, soprano, alto and tenor saxophones and wind synthesizer (EWI). The 2008 schedule had him playing Stings Rainforest Concert at Carnegie Hall and extensive touring with Boris Grebenshikov beginning in London at the Royal Albert Hall, continuing on to Dublin, Kiev, Milan, Moscow, St. Petersburg, ending the year in Vienna. May of 2009 brought Premik to California for the Narada Michael Walden Foundation, Let the Sunshine In benefit concert. Premik has worked with Carlos Santana, Whitney Houston, Herbie Hancock, John McLaughlin, Ravi Shankar, Narada Michael Walden, Jean-Luc Ponty, Clarence Clemons, Jackson Browne, Lonnie Liston-Smith, Sting, Billy Joel and James Taylor, to name a few. Nathan Peck (acoustic bass)
Nathan Peck on acoustic bass for the evening, toured, in 2008 toured Central America and the Caribbean with the Kelly Johnson Quartet as part of Lincoln Centers American Music Abroad Program. In the spring of 2009 he toured Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic with the fusion trio, Phishbacher led by pianist and composer Walter Fischbacher. Currently based in Queens, New York, he is a fulltime musician and leads his own band, The Spankray Funk Band. He has performed in NYC at the Blue Note, Knitting Factory, Smoke, Iridium, The Zinc Bar, Cleopatra's Needle,55 Bar, Lenox Lounge, Deer Head Inn, Joes Pub, Barbes, Kenny's Castaways, Arthurs Tavern, Village Underground and others. A drummer, teacher and author Todd Isler is based in New York City, where he has been active in the jazz and world music scenes for over 20 years. He has released two original CDs, Two Step: Duets and Beyond, and his current Soul Drums, as well as his book You Can Takadimi This, published by Gerard and Sarzin in 2005. He has appeared on hundreds of recordings He has composed and performed with several modern dance companies around the U.S. In 2008 he toured Japan with Francis Mbappe and also joined Mike Gordons band (of Phish fame). Keyboardist Neil "Nail" Alexander has performed professionally for 30+ years. He works with music in all forms and styles from Composer/Arranger and Production of Live Sound to Musical Theater, Modern Dance and Film. Grants from NYSCA and Meet The Composer gave Neil the opportunity to continue building on his composing skills. Neil also teaches Master Classes in Synthesizer Programming and Music Performance Technology, and composes works for small ensembles. As an active musician he has recordings and/or a performance history with a variety of groups and artists such as Gunther Hampel, Tal Ross (P-Funk), Charles Haynes, Erik Lawrence, and The Adaptors Movement Theater. His classical repertoire includes works by Stravinsky, Charles Ives, and John Cage. He recently retired from the Pink Floyd Tribute The Machine, where he was a driving force in the groups success for ten years. In addition, he does electronic and/or acoustic solo performances including Scene Re-seen (live electronic scoring of silent films).

The night will be filled with plenty of world jazz, multiple time signatures, fun improv, and some very special guests. And as always EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED!!!
