Pianist George Colligan Premiers New Work "Post 9/11" At the Jazz Gallery May 8, 2003

New York based Pianist George Colligan is pleased to announce the world premier of his new multi-movement suite “Post 9/11". The performance of “Post 9/11" will take place Thursday, May 8, 2003 at The Jazz Gallery 290 Hudson Street at 9:00 PM 212-242-1063.

George Colligan was one of eleven winners of the prestigious Chamber Music America New Works Grant for Jazz Composition selected from 150 entrants.

The new work was inspired by the tragic events of September 11th and how life in America and the world has changed since the terrorist attacks. The musicians joining Colligan for this performance will be Gary Thomas on flute and tenor sax, Lonnie Plaxico on Bass, and Ralph Peterson on drums.

George is also pleased to announce his winning the recent Jazzconnect.com competition. The competition was based on individual votes from the Internet. Part of the winnings included a live recording in Washington D.C. “Live at Blues Alley
