Prague-based pianist Emil Viklicky and his trio, featuring bassist Frank Uhlir and drummer Laco Tropp, will play at the London Jazz Festival on November 18th, 2006.
The venue: Pizza Express Jazz Club, Dean Str., Soho, London, UK.
Viklicky's trio concept is a Czech folk-jazz approach. According to a recent UK review, “The trio has the catchy lyricism and collective energy of the Swedish Esbjorn Svensson Trio, though without the electronics and rock input."
London-based Dekkor Records have just issued a new CD by the Emil Viklicky Trio, Cookin' in Bonn, recorded live at the Beethoven Festival in Bonn.
On their last visit in London, the trio obtained five very good reviews in important UK papers including The Guardian (Sept 13th, 2006), The Times (Sept 12th, 2006), The Evening Standard, The Telegraph and Vortex website.
