Sunday August 7th, 2005 the Artist Quarter will present Soprano Vocalist, Paula Lammers. Paula, will Blanket you with warmth and romance with her debut album, “A Blanket of Blue.” Join Lammers and her special guests of seasoned professionals as they lead you through a night of wonderful arrangements and renditions of the classic standards that make the rich heritage of vocal jazz.

Lammers masterfully inspired release called, “A Blanket of Blue,” consisting of 11 selections total, 10 beautifully arranged jazz standard selections and 1 hauntingly beautiful original “Goodbye…again,” penned by Lammers and co-arranged by Peter Schimke and Jeanne Arland Peterson is the culmination of many hours of performance and dedication to the vocal jazz genre.

Selections on “A Blanket of Blue” include, “I Thought About You”, “Isn’t it Romantic?”, “Too Close for Comfort”, “Honeysuckle Rose”, “Under a Blanket of Blue”, and “In the Wee Small Hours of the Morning.” A highlight of the album is a Latin treatment of Michel LeGrand’s “The Moon and I”, and “More” sung with its original Italian lyrics. Also included are “Gentle Rain” and “Meditation”. Billy Peterson created arrangements for the 10 cover tunes. Jeanne Arland Peterson, Peter Schimke, and Paula collaborated on the arrangement of “Goodbye…again”. The project is co-produced by Billy Peterson and Darren Rust, and features noted jazz musicians: Peter Schimke-keyboards, Clay Moore-guitar, Gary Berg-sax and harmonica, Billy Peterson-bass, and Kenny Horst-drums.

Paula appears regularly on the Minnesota Zephyr with a vocal quartet that entertains diners on the vintage train with nostalgic tunes from the 40’s. She also sings with the River City Jazz Orchestra, a 17-piece Big Band that plays at O’Gara’s, Parrish’s, and many other local venues and private events. Paula easily switches gears to sing with Minnesota Opera Chorus, appearing in seven opera productions over the past three seasons. This recording project represents the music that is closest to Paula’s heart: “I am so grateful for the variety of musical experiences and the opportunities which I have. Now it is time to focus on sharing the music that stirs my heart in its deepest places”, say’s Paula. Don’t miss this highly talented Minnesota artist and her debut CD.

CD’s will be available at the show and at www.paulalammers.com, as well as, at select retailers.
