Please join our audience for another great musical performance on WLRN's South Florida Arts Beat Friday, August 13, 2010 Featuring PALO!

Join us for the invigorating sounds of Palo! playing Cuban music for a new generation. Jazz influenced keyboardist Steve Roitstein is joined by the tremendous vocalist Leslie Cartaya. Her voice has been described as “sweet molasses with a dash of spice." They're joined by two ferocious percussionists, Philbert Armenteros, who also handles lead vocals together with congas, bata and chequere and Raymer Olalde on timbales and coros. To top off their delicious Café Con Leche is the addition of South Florida's most renowned modern saxophonist, Ed Calle, whose talents take him from mainstream Jazz, BeBop and Rhythm and Blues to the contemporary grooves of great American music. This is truly a South Florida mix of infectious, danceable sounds that are invigorating. Having just returned from the Clark Street Festival in Chicago, Palo!, I predict, will soon overtake this country with their brand of exciting Afro-Cuban Funk. Their latest CD is available at GoPalo.Com.

You can tune in worldwide on our Internet site at WLRN.Org at 1:00pm, EST on 8/13/10, for the broadcast.

This show is generously co-sponsored by Pollo Tropical and Friends of WLRN.
