“Paghel Meshughah: Loco Love Music” translates to “Crazy, Crazy, Crazy” in three languages: Urdu, Yiddish, and Spanish. The name reflects three of drummer/composer Eric Alabaster’s passions: a love of Yiddish, Pakistani/Desi (the Indian sub-continent), and Spanish-Afro Caribbean culture, language and music.

This jazz ensemble, featuring African-American trumpet master Duane Eubanks, includes a multicultural group of musicians who fuse polyrhythmic Indian and Pakistani elements in lush and beautiful arrangements of Jewish drummer/composer Eric Alabaster’s original compositions.

Brad Walseth of JazzChicago.net writes “[Eric’s] compositions veer delightfully from the Indian subcontinent to Arabia, and display Alabasters’ ability to write compellingly in the modern American Jazz vein... Eric is one of the most creative and interesting composers working the scene today."
