October 2007 -- Camden, NJ...As part of the 2nd annual Rutgers Camden Jazz Festival, Rutgers-Camden Center for the Arts (RCCA) will present FREE Saturday afternoon jazz performances & workshops on October 27th, December 8th, January 26th and February 23rd from 1 pm to 5 pm. RCCA is located on the Rutgers-Camden campus on the Camden Waterfront, 3rd & Pearl Streets at the Ben Franklin Bridge, Camden, NJ. All ticketed events begin at 8 pm.

Saturday, October 27th

1 pm to 5 pm (FREE) in BLACK BOX STUDIO:
Young trailblazer Nasir Dickerson and the Renaissance Jazz Messengers with the UCC Royal Brass Band demonstrate their serious skills with jazz favorites.

8:00 pm ($20 ticket) in GORDON THEATER
Arpeggio Jazz Ensemble opens for OMAR SOSA AFREECANOS QUARTET

Saturday, December 8th

1 pm to 5 pm (FREE) in BLACK BOX STUDIO:
Master drummer Kenyatta and his group La Tumba define the origin of the drums through narrative and performance via the djembe, conga, talking drum and bata.

8 pm ($20 ticket) in GORDON THEATER
Bootsie Barnes opens for Luciana Souza

January 26th

1 pm to 5 pm (FREE) in BLACK BOX STUDIO:
Guitar virtuoso Frank Butrey explores the versatility and extremes of the guitar via acoustic and electronic formats

8:00 pm ($20 ticket) in GORDON THEATER
Jamaladeen Tacuma opens for Bill Frisell

February 23rd

1 pm to 5 pm (FREE) in BLACK BOX STUDIO:
Professional Dancers Zornitsa Stoyanova & Brinae Ali combine spontaneous free form dance with jazz tap dancing (FREE)

8:00 pm ($20 ticket) in GORDON THEATER
