Following the October 2018 release of their acclaimed CD, Aguas, Omar Sosa & Yilian Cañizares are set to showcase their third music video, “Oshun," in support of the recording.

Aguas is a beautiful and very personal album, reflecting the perspectives of two generations of Cuban artists living outside their homeland, interpreting their Afro-traditions in unique and subtle ways.

The album is dedicated to water, and especially to Oshun, the Goddess of Love and Mistress of Rivers in the Lucumí tradition of Yoruba ancestry known in Cuba as Santería—a spiritual practice important to both artists.

As water is synonymous with life, and energy, and strength, and space, the music of the album is inspired by the important influences of water—its hidden powers, its infinite transmutations, and its relentless creation and destruction. As well, for Omar and Yilian, water represents both separation from, and nostalgia for, the land of their birth.

Compatriot Inor Sotolongo contributes various percussion touches to the recording, and, on tour, Aguas Trio features folkloric Venezuelan percussionist Gustavo Ovalles.

The music video features the track “Oshun" from the Omar Sosa & Yilian Cañizares CD, Aguas. Its animated graphics were created using After Effects, Moho Pro, and Photoshop by Madrid-based Cuban artist Leonardo Perez Garcia and depict the transformative and healing powers of the Yoruba water deity. The music video invites all of us to connect with the profound and life-sustaining properties of water in our own lives.
