3rd ANNUAL MUSIC FESTIVAL AND CONFERENCE
GEARS UP NEXT WEEK

The Dynamites

Next BIG Nashville takes place September 10 through September 14. Spotlighting Nashville's diverse music scene, the event will showcase over 200 bands at over 15 venues. In an effort to include even more artists that are linked to the city, the festival producers opened up submissions to include artists who are not only based in Nashville, but also have ties to the area through business and musical endeavors (i.e. management or a publisher based in Nashville, recorded at a local studio, co-wrote with local artist, etc). Next BIG Nashville co-founder Jason Moon Wilkins describes the event as “a way to connect musicians, the music industry and the media to the music fans of Nashville and its visitors. It's a story that can be told about the city and the scenes within the city."

The NBN '08 lineup includes Superdrag, Dead Confederate, The Dynamites, Sons of Roswell, Magic Wands, Dexateens, Sons of Roswell, Paper Route, Caitlin Rose, Danger Bear, Chris Janson, Joey & Rory, Whispertown 2000 (the first signing to Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings' Acony label), Sarah Siskind, and many more.

Special NBN '08 events will include all ages showcases, a return of the BIG Picture Film and Music event, Grimey's Records Giant Outdoor In-Store and Big Ass Sale (an indoor/outdoor party at Nashville's premiere indie record store featuring a giant record sale and live music) and exclusive after-parties. NBN '08 will also have voter registration booths at select shows, to highlight the importance of voting this election year (more details to be announced shortly).

In addition to offering an expanded list of artist showcases and special events, NBN '08 will also introduce a full line-up of daytime panels and conference activities on September 11 and 12 at the Musicians Hall of Fame and the Country Music Hall of Fame. The theme for the music conference is “21st Century DIY" and it will feature panels and activities aimed at the issues facing the changing nature of the music business and the increasing opportunities for independent artists and business owners. An impressive list of music business insiders and digital industry leaders from Nashville, New York and beyond will populate the panels and discussions.
