Premiere New Track By Everette Harp & Brian Bromberg
In connection with this year's Third Annual National Smooth Jazz Awards, Native Language Music will be releasing “Smooth Jazz Awards Collection, Vol. 2" nationwide on Tuesday, February 26, 2002. The Greatest Hits compilation will feature 11 tracks from this year's Smooth Jazz Award-nominated artists, and one brand-new track recorded specifically for this compilation by saxophonist Everette Harp and bassist Brian Bromberg.
The track, a cover of Michael Jackson's 1979 smash hit “Rock With You," will be serviced to Smooth Jazz radio stations and syndicated shows nationwide in mid-January for an add date of February 4. “Rock With You," which was produced by Bromberg, and features Harp and keyboardist Jeff Lorber, will be exclusive to this Collection.
“Smooth Jazz Awards Collection, Vol. 2" features chart-topping hits from Jeff Lorber, Peter White, Richard Elliot, Joyce Cooling, Euge Groove, Urban Knights, Spyro Gyra, Chuck Loeb, Jeff Kashiwa, Shilts, and Steve Reid.
This is the second compilation to be released by Native Language Music that is associated with the Smooth Jazz Awards. In October 2000, Native Language Music released “Oasis Smooth Jazz Awards Collection," which featured 15 tracks from Award-nominated artists, such as David Benoit, Dave Koz, Marc Antoine, the Rippingtons, and Patti Austin, and also included a brand-new track recorded by Brian Bromberg and Richard Elliot entitled “Relentless," which peaked at #8 on the R&R Smooth Jazz chart. The record charted Top 15 on Billboard's Contemporary Jazz chart.
This year's National Smooth Jazz Awards show will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2002, at Golden Hall in San Diego, CA. The release of the “Smooth Jazz Awards Collection, Vol. 2" coincides with a planned live simulcast of the Awards show on Smooth Jazz radio stations across the country and multiple BET broadcasts of the Awards show in April and May. Fans are able to vote for this year's nominees on the official National Smooth Smooth Jazz Awards website at nationalsmoothjazzawards.com. Voting closes on February 10, 2002.
