These musicians integrate reflections of Himalayan art into their program. RMA is dedicated to the art of the Himalayas and opened sixteen months ago; the Jazz Museum is several years into its community and educational programs, and is in the process of acquiring a permanent home in Harlem. The series is curated by Loren Schoenberg, Executive Director of The Jazz Museum in Harlem and Tim McHenry, Director of Programming of the Rubin Museum of Art.

Friday, 4/20 @ 8 p.m.

The National Jazz Museum All-Stars, directed by Loren Schoenberg, will present a tribute to America's greatest composer, Duke Ellington and his musical partner, Billy Strayhorn. These two men wrote some of the 20th century's most famous songs, including Take The A Train, Satin Doll, In A Sentimental Mood, I Got It Bad, and Mood Indigo. The All-Stars will focus, however, on the lesser-known gems in the Ellington/Strayhorn catalogue, ones that were recorded and then rarely played. Band includes: Loren Schoenberg, piano, John Eckert, trumpet, Jay Brandford, saxophone and Ulysses Owens, drums. Presented in association with the Duke Ellington Society. $40/ $28 for members. Flushing Town Hall 137-35 Northern Boulevard (at the corner of Linden Place), Flushing, NY 11354.
