Startups are working to eliminate the distance between artists and fans. No where has that proven more difficult that in live concerts. MyMusicTaste approaches the issue by empowering fans to drive concert appearances.
Seoul based MyMusicTaste
has raised $10 million in a Seires A round led by Softbank Ventures Korea alongside Samsung Ventures, Formation 8, Golden Gate Ventures, Timewise Investment, Partners Investment, Bokwang Ventures and DT Capital.
The startup offers an online platform that enables users to request, plan and promote concerts by their favorite artists. Users are able to request a concert, purchase tickets and connect with other fans. Launched in 2013, the platform has 500,000 users with 90% outside of Korea.
MyMusicTaste attempts to bridge the gap between artists, promoters and fans. With concrete data on the number of fans and the amounts they are willing to pay, MyMusicTaste lowers the risk that promoters take when producing a concert. So far, the platform has resulted in more than 200 shows with attendances ranging from 200-15,000. It is being developed by JJS Media, a Korean company which created music and fan related websites and platforms.
