One of Sydney's local Councils, Manly Council, will be conducting their 30th Anniversary of the Manly International Jazz Festival, the largest and longest running free community based Jazz Festival in Australia. The Festival is held over the October long weekend and in 2007 takes place on Saturday 29th, Sunday 30th September and Monday 1st October.

With a relaxed family atmosphere and a breathtaking ocean beachfront backdrop, the festival location is considered to be the best for a Jazz Festival in Australia and second to none in the world of Jazz. The usual patronage for this festival is in excess of 30,000 visitors per day and there is ample family facilities and food and refreshment venues throughout the environs of the Festival.

The festival will begin in true New Orleans style with a street parade beginning at Manly wharf through The Corso and finishing at the oceanfront stage.

This year there will be a fantastic line up of new jazz talent and well-established musicians, some who were part of the festival in its early days. Audiences will enjoy listening to a mix of jazz styles presented by local, interstate and overseas acts including:

George Washingmachine, Geoff Bull, John Morrison Quartet, Dale Barlow, Tina Harrod, Carol Ralph Quintet, Ingrid James, Bob Montgomery (USA), Louisiana Shakers (VIC), Jeff Duff, Doug Williams, Kristin Berardi, Michelle Nicolle (VIC), Kevin Hunt Trio, E-Type Jazz (SA), Bruce Brown (USA) and Doug Parkinson.

Sydney is currently promoting it's multicultural attributes, so in addition to the usual fare of American Jazz and Swing music, Manly Council will also be presenting a taste of multicultural music from a local Northern Beaches band, Viva the duo. They will be performing for their 6th year at the festival as a roving band and they perform: Gypsy jazz, Swing, Latin, Cuban, French, Spanish, Russian, Hungarian, Jazz and classic show tunes. Viva the duo regularly perform at most of Sydney's Local council's community music events. Their show band, Viva the band (quartet) are well known for their performances at International venues.
