“Good Morning Mr. Phelps, your mission, should you decide to accept it," is a challenging one! Given that Stan Kenton would have been 100 years old" in 2011, we should all try to arrange for as many TRIBUTES to Stan Kenton as we can manage. You may consider these resources 'fair game':

LIBRARIES: book and CD promotions, displayed prominently; literary events—jazz people lecturing about Kenton; performances (should your library permit them); and other things thought about by YOU.

PHILHARMONICS/SYMPHONIES: the inclusion of works associated with the various Stan Kenton orchestras in their programs; feature various Kenton alumni as soloists playing their or Kenton-associated works; and other things thought about by YOU.

JAZZ ORCHESTRAS: performances “in tribute" to Stan Kenton music (there are so many out there playing as non-profit orgs, “kicks bands, and house bands; and other things thought about by YOU.

COLLEGE/UNIVERSITY JAZZ PROGRAMS: orchestral concerts; course work; lecturers; semester-long discussion of the professional work of Stan Kenton; and other things thought about by YOU.

ARTICLES IN NEWSPAPERS, JAZZ JOURNALS, AND ONLINE...NOT ONLY IN KENTONIA...BUT AT VARIOUS JAZZ WEBSITES. And, as Mike Vax and the Stan Kenton Alumni Band are doing...tours in honor of The Man.

“As always, should you or any of your KENTONIAN Force be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions."

All the best, stay well and in touch, Tony A.
