Minton's Playhouse Celebrates Duke Ellington's 110th Birthday, 4/29/09

On Wednesday, April 29, 2009, The Uptown Lounge at Minton's Playhouse hosts a special celebration in honor of Duke Ellington's 110th birthday. From 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Darby Dizard and the Blue Millenium Orchestra, featuring several alumni of Duke Ellington's Orchestra, perform a set in honor of Ellington. Afterwards from 10:00 p.m. until closing, Patience Higgins and the Sugar Hill Quartet lead Minton's Playhouse's traditional Wednesday night jam session. For complete concert information, see below.

Minton's Playhouse, “The Birthplace of Bebop, The Home of Jazz," features live music nearly every night of the week. Upcoming featured shows include the organ trio Eli Fountain and the Organizers featuring Bill Saxton (April 18) and The TK Blue Quartet (April 25).
