On Thursday, March 31, 2011, pianist, composer and bandleader Michele Rosewoman presents her trio, featuring Brad Jones on bass and Gene Jackson on drums, in a concert at Brooklyn College. The event, entitled After Silence: The Art of Improvisation, will be recorded for broadcast on CUNY TV (Channel 75).

Michele Rosewoman has made her mark in the jazz world as a highly original artist, fusing Afro-Cuban influences with intelligent and modern post-bop. Throughout her varied career, Michele has performed with such jazz luminaries as Julian Priester, Oliver Lake, Reggie Workman, and with Celia Cruz, Paquito D'Rivera, and Orlando “Puntilla" Rios. As a bandleader, she has led two ensembles, New Yor- Uba and Quintessence, to tremendous critical acclaim.

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, shelter in place and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary effort that will help musicians now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the bottom right video ad). Thank you.
