Michele Rosewoman performs with an expanded line-up of her ensemble Quintessence on June 14, 2009 at the Abrons Arts Center as part of this year's Vision Festival.

For this performance, Quintessence premieres two new works funded by Chamber Music America and the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation. In keeping with her latest release, The In Side Out (Advance Dance Disques), Michele augments Quintessence with special guests on trombone and guitar.

As Ms. Rosewoman and Quintessence achieve new textures and layers with the expanded instrumentation, critics give rave reviews of their evolution: All About Jazz wrote that “[as] Michele Rosewoman and her Quintessence project evolve, the music continually reflects all the influences that have shaped this most intriguing composer and pianist. Rosewoman is a propulsive bandleader and guides the listeners and the players on a most seductive journey."
