The Michael Musillami Quartet will perform a CD release concert at the Vermont Jazz Center on Sunday, February 15th at 4:00 PM. The group is led by Michael Musillami whose guitar playing and impeccable production work as owner/manager of Playscape Records have him earned great acclaim in many of today's leading jazz journals. Musillami's attention to musical ability and the chemistry of ensemble members allows him to consistently align himself with great musicians who can tastefully interpret his repertoire while still putting their own stamp on it. He will perform with New York's Sonny Barbato on piano and George Schuller on drums, plus Vermont's own, Dave Shapiro.
The current quartet was originally formed a little over a year ago and included the brilliant pianist Ted Rosenthal who is now in Florida. The band found that they shared a similar vision: they were all deeply invested in exploring exceptional jazz standards in creative ways: playing with the time, re-harmonizing the melody, re-inventing forms
