SPRING TOUR CONFIRMED

On April 9th, Blue Note Records will release Uninvisible, Medeski Martin & Wood’s 10th studio album and follow-up to their experimental recording The Dropper. Produced by longtime collaborator Scotty Hard (The Word, Prince Paul, Deltron 3030, Wu-Tang Clan), Uninvisible marks the next step in the trio’s constantly evolving musical vision.

MMW will kick-off the first part of their spring tour on April 7, headlining the 3 Rivers Music Festival in Columbia SC. The 13-date run will include two Los Angeles area performances, as well as stops at Denver’s Fillmore Auditorium, and The Warfield in San Francisco (see reverse for complete list of dates). Guest musicians Steven Bernstein and DJ P Love will join the band in select cities throughout the tour.

Featured guests on Uninvisible include DJ P-Love (turntables), Col. Bruce Hampton (vocals), Danny Blume (guitar), Brad Roberts (vocals), Eddie Bobe (percussion), DJ Olive (turntables) and the Antibalas horns. Each musician brought their own sound into the mix to create a recording that ultimately results in both a return to the familiar MMW groove, as well as a few steps into the future.

Special guests will join MMW on select dates throughout the tour’s West Coast leg. Famed slide trumpeter Steven Bernstein will accompany the band for six shows; Turntablist DJ P Love (featured on Uninvisible) will perform on 11 dates. Bernstein, the leader of several NYC jazz ensembles, most notably Sex Mob, will serve as musical director, assembling local horn players in each city.

MMW has also confirmed three summer festival dates: Hookahville (May 25), Rochester International Jazz Festival (June 7), and the High Sierra Music Festival (July 6).
