Maryland Summer Jazz Festival

Jazz lovers are invited to take part in the fourth Maryland Summer Jazz Festival, a workshop, concert and jam session event running Tuesday-July 25 in Rockville and the District.

The festival, sponsored by Chuck Levin's Washington Music Center and other local businesses, will include performances by saxophonist Jeff Coffin, saxophonist and composer Jeff Antoniuk and the Jazz Update band, guitarist Steve Herberman, Spanish bassist Pepe Gonzalez and Latin jazz trumpet player Alex Norris.

The festival kicks off with 8 and 10 p.m. concerts Tuesday at the Blues Alley jazz club in Georgetown, followed by 7 and 8:30 p.m. professional and students performances July 18 and 25 at St. Mark Presbyterian Church, 10701 Old Georgetown Rd. in Rockville. Blues Alley tickets: $18. St. Mark tickets: $20; in advance, $15; children age 12 and younger, $5. Workshops run Wednesday-July 18 and July 23-25 at the church and cost $524-$818.
