Eddie Gomez (contrabbasso); Mark Kramer (pianoforte); Joe La Barbera (batteria) will be performing at major festivals and concert halls in a tour including 8 cities in Italy in April 2010. The planners of the tour suggested this unusual edition of the Eddie Gomez Trio for performances which they describe as jazz of “great beauty, transcending all temporal boundaries."

This pairing of the trio's leader Eddie Gomez (the pivotal virtuoso bassist who is the most recorded and enduring associate of the Evans' Grammy award winning duos and trios over 11 years) is with Joe La Barbera, (a fluid drummer who performed with the last Bill Evans Trio). Although both Gomez and La Barbera played individually at important periods with Evans (d. 1980, aged 51 years) this will be the first time they have combined their talents.

Specifically chosen for the piano chair is Mark Kramer. He possesses an Evanesque style described by jazz writer Scott Yanow (2009), as “a jazz piano giant, finally being discovered, moving the modern mainstream of jazz forward, combining his early influences and formidable technique with fresh ideas that form his own individual voice." Gomez and Kramer, long time associates, have already recorded a positively reviewed collection of duo and trio CDs and DVD's including Art of the Heart, Troubled Times, Jazz Fiddler on the Roof, Kind of Trio, and A Night with Eddie Gomez and Mark Kramer. Yanow notes that on these recordings, “the interactions between Eddie and Mark are never short of brilliant, and often closer to miraculous."

This concert and festival tour of the Eddie Gomez Trio, featuring Mark Kramer and Joe La Barbera will create fresh gateways to the genre. Performances will be recorded for future enjoyment.
