Marisa Monte Receives Three Latin Grammy Nominations

BRAZILIAN SINGER MARISA MONTE RECEIVES THREE NOMINATIONS FOR 7th ANNUAL LATIN GRAMMY AWARDS

MONTE'S TWO NEW ALBUMS, UNIVERSO AO MEU REDOR & INFINITO PARTICULAR, JUST RELEASED IN US ON BLUE NOTE / METRO BLUE TO RAVE REVIEWS

The Brazilian singer-songwriter-producer Marisa Monte received three nominations for the 7th Annual Latin Grammy Awards. The nominations were announced yesterday in New York City. Monte's two new albums, Universo ao meu redor, her first-ever collection of samba songs, and Infinito Particular, a contemporary pop album of Monte's original songs that span her 15 years of songwriting, were just released on Blue Note / Metro Blue on September 12th.

Inifinito Particular was nominated for Best Brazilian Contemporary Pop Album, while Universo ao meu redor earned two nominations, one for Best Samba Album, and another for Best Brazilian Song for “O Bonde do Dom," which was co-written by Monte, Arnaldo Antunes and Carlinhos Brown. Monte, Antunes and Brown's acclaimed collaboration Tribalistas took home the 2003 Latin Grammy Award for Best Brazilian Contemporary Pop Album.

The awards ceremony will take place November 2nd at Madison Square Garden in New York, right before Monte kicks off her first US tour in six years, which will make stops in San Francisco (11 / 4 - 5), Los Angeles (11 / 8), Miami (11 / 10 - 11) and New York (11 / 14).
