New York, NY--On Tuesday, April 15th, Marcus Goldhaber will perform at Ashford & Simpson's Sugar Bar on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. This concert will feature new material and preview a few tracks from his upcoming album, TAKE ME. At this performance, Marcus will team up once again with The Jon Davis Trio: Martin Wind, bass and Marcello Pellitteri, drums.

These new songs were born out of a demand from Marcus' audience for original material. This inspired him to channel his soulful “no frills approach" (People Magazine) and apply it to his original material, bringing old world Jazz into the mainstream. When asked about his material, Marcus replied, “I borrowed a technique from Irving Berlin and just thought of a new way to say, 'I love you.' After a few minutes, I began writing “Take Me," the title track of this next album." This song is based on the beautiful relationship that his grandparents had, which Marcus admired.

With TAKE ME, Marcus creates a unique sound that is both familiar and accessible. The album will also feature his interpretation of several standards, deemed “sensually intelligent and stylish" by the International Herald Daily News. His debut CD, THE MOMENT AFTER, has been recognized and praised by the top trades in the industry (Jazz Times, Jazz Improv, Hot House, and All About Jazz) as well as in the pop culture scene with a 3 (out of 4) star mention in People Magazine.

Since his debut release, Marcus has played to packed houses all over Manhattan including Sweet Rhythm, The Metropolitan Room and The Cutting Room. He has also played in residency (2 years) at Penang's Downstairs Room and at The Benjamin Hotel.

Conceived by Nicholas Ashford, one half of the songwriting and performing sensations Ashford & Simpson, The Sugar Bar is one of the most cultural and intimate Live Entertainment / Full Service Restaurants you'll find in New York's trendy Upper West Side. Since opening, the Sugar Bar has been host to various celebrities such as: Bruce Willis, Stevie Wonder, Luther Vandross and Dr. Maya Angelou.

So file your taxes and join us on April 15th at The Sugar Bar (sugarbarnyc.com), located at 254 West 72nd Street, between Broadway and West End Ave. There will be 2 sets at 8:30PM and 10PM. For advanced tickets, call 212.579.0222.
