Marcel and Beyond the Sun Helps Celebrate 25th Year of Free Summer Jazz Concerts

The Shoreline Arts Alliance continues its 25+ year history of bringing free outdoor summer entertainment to the Guilford Green, Guilford, Connecticut. On July 5th at 6:30pm Marcel & Beyond the Sun, presented by the Shoreline Arts Alliance, will be bringing smooth jazz to Guilford. Performing from their new CD “Black Coffee" they plan will help celebrate the 4th of July weekend with a free concert. The concert is family-friendly and is free to the public. In the event of rain the concert will take place in the Guilford Community Center, 32 Church Street (just off the Green). Parking is free around the Green and in the town lots.

Marcel & Beyond the Sun is a Jazz Quartet with a contemporized edge using multimedia and guest vocalists. Many of their performances have brought awareness to special causes and many non-profit organizations across the country. Their current show includes many original arrangements as well as some favorites that bring the audience to their feet.

Marcel Blanchet, drummer, recording artist and motivational speaker studied at the Berklee School of Music where he became involved in and studied Commercial Jingle writing. Eventually this led him into recording drums and percussion for others and touring and playing drums in the Broadway shows Aint Misbehavin, Guys and Dolls, Jesus Christ Superstar, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat. He has worked with recording artists Richard Williams, Tony Chance, the Ink Spots, Eddie Fisher and The Platters. Currently, Marcel is in demand as a drum clinician and motivational speaker, where he helps strengthen attitudes and builds creativity.
