SOUTHFIELD - Five individuals were arrested after an Aug. 9 jazz club brawl that left one man dead and five people injured.
An unidentified 33-year-old Southfield man with head trauma was rushed to Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak at approximately 1:30 a.m. and died as a result of his injuries after possibly being hit with a liquor bottle and a chair, according to the Southfield Police Department.
“Preliminary reports are that the fight ensued because a female patron was possibly harassed by one of the suspects, and then she contacted one of her friends, who was one of the victims, to let him know, and that is what caused the altercation,” said Southfield Police Lt. Nick Loussia.
The fight occurred inside Arturo’s Jazz Theatre, in the 25000 block of 12 Mile Road. Responding officers determined that two victims had been stabbed and four others, including the man who later died, were otherwise injured. Five people were transported for treatment of injuries that were not life-threatening.
