The recipient of four previous Grammy nominations (this recent news brings his nominations total to eight), the news came as a wonderful surprise to Childs, who was in New York City, performing with Chris Botti. What a great surprise to wake up to this wonderful news about these nominations. I'm very honored and gratified. 'Lyric' was definitely a labor of love and it's great to recognized and acknowledged for something like this."
Since the album's release in September, Lyric" (released through ArtistShare, who also had Grammy success with last year's Concert In The Garden" by Childs' longtime friend, Maria Schneider) has received press accolades around the world, and this is the fitting happy ending to one of the pianist's best years, personally and professionally.
