Lyricist/singer Lorraine Feather's new release, Language, which includes music by co-writers Shelly Berg, Russell Ferrante, Tony Morales and Eddie Arkin, will be out in April of 2008 on Jazzed Media.

It has been three years since Feather's last album, Dooji Wooji, which featured numerous Ellington reinventions with her lyrics as well as all-new material with her longtime co-writers. In the interim, she has been hard at work as a lyricist for various theatrical projects, including Canum Entertainment's musicals The Thief and Pest Control (the latter scheduled for a two-month run at the NoHo Arts Center in Los Angeles next summer); she also continues to work on The Bonfire of the Vanities with composer Stefania De Kenessey, excerpts from which have been performed in New York by American Opera Projects.

Feather and pianist Shelly Berg will be starting to perform again together after the first of the year, traveling to Chattanooga and Nashville in January and to New York for several days at the Algonquin's Oak Room in February.

The Jazzed Media release marks Feather's fifth in a string of solo projects she has done since 1999 with co-producers Carlos Del Rosario and Geoff Gillette, who have declared this one her quirkiest yet. Her recordings have received glowing reviews in every major jazz magazine. Down Beat has called her work “deliciously savvy"; Jazz Times has referred to Feather as “a lyrical Dorothy Parker" and her writing as “pure genius."

Jazzed Media, a jazz record label and film production company, was founded in the Denver, Colorado metropolitan area in 2002.
