Lin McPhillips Moves up the RMR Jazz Chart

Veteran jazz vocalist Lin McPhillips moves up the RMR national airplay chart in the jazz category. Most notably remembered for her work with Solar Plexus and after a long hiatus prompted by the loss of so many of her friends, she has returned to the recording environment and tested her jazz prowess once more. She brought together a roster of excellent bay area musicians. Some new friends and dear old friends were more than happy to collaborate.

Lin McPhillips is a San Francisco Bay area jazz vocalist. In this recent recording, she sings a collection of songs dedicated to the friends in memoriam. After a long hiatus and prompted by the loss of so many of her friends, she has returned to the recording environment and tested her jazz prowess once more. She brought together a roster of excellent bay area musicians. Some new friends and dear old friends were more than happy to collaborate.

Lin sings, scats and improvises her way through this coterie of songs with elegant ease and aplomb. Her eclectic style lends itself to explore different vocal landscapes to enhance each composition. She employs the use of electronics to texturize the voice to present a different vocal sound for effective emphasis when soloing.

Several of the compositions are arranged by Lin. The main orchestrations and arrangements were under the able pen of co-producer Scott Sorkin.
