Dubbed the “African Sting," Cameroonian bassist-vocalist-composer Bona maintains his universal appeal by using a hybrid effect combining African influences with Latin rhythms, jazz, bossa nova, pop and funk. Beninian guitarist, Loueke, has worked with Herbie Hancock, Terence Blanchard and Charlie Haden. Performance includes an “Artist Chat" with series artistic advisor Danlo Perez and the evening's artists.

Somewhere between a 1930s Cuban dance orchestra, a classical chamber music ensemble, a Brazilian marching street band and Japanese film noir is the 12-piece Pink Martini.

Internationally acclaimed trumpeter and Associate Professor of Jazz at Temple University, Terell Stafford makes Philly proud with his quartet.

Growing up in the colorful and complex cultural environment of Hungary, Daniel Szabo is a versatile jazz pianist-composer who has a unique voice performing both original compositions and standard arrangements. Joining him is a Czech vocalist whose latest CD, Flor Nocturna, is garnering rave reviews. This performance includes Zippo Songs, based on poems of Vietnam G.I.'s, and a new song cycle based on Hunter S. Thompson's writings.
