The Ken Berman Trio, featuring internationally acclaimed bassist Kai Eckhardt and legendary drummer Akira Tana, will be performing a special program of original music at UC Berkeley's Hertz Concert Hall on September 19th.

The historic Hertz Concert Hall has hosted a wealth of outstanding jazz and classical recording artists, including Dawn Upshaw, Steve Reich, Cecilia Bartoli, Steve Coleman, John Abercrombie, Roscoe Mitchell, Steve Lacy, John Zorn, Henry Threadgill, Ravi Shankar, and the Kronos Quartet. Since joining the faculty at UC Berkeley last year, pianist and composer Ken Berman has been performing to sell-out crowds in the Bay Area and beyond. Sidemen Kai Eckhardt and Akira Tana have performed with a “who's who" of jazz greats, including Sonny Rollins, John McLaughlin, Milt Jackson, Ralph Towner, James Moody, Randy Brecker, Zoot Simms, Billy Cobham, Sonny Stitt and Jim Hall.

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded albums and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, limited reopenings and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary step that will help musicians and venues now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the sticky footer ad). Thank you!
