Kansas City Jazz Master - Ahmad Alaadeen

'ASR Records Artist and Kansas City Jazz Master, Ahmad Alaadeen, recently concluded a series of master classes and jazz education residencies in the region. January and February 2004 concluded with Alaadeen having worked with students ranging from middle school and junior high age at the historic Mutual Musicians Foundation in Kansas City's 18th and Vine Jazz District; to spending two days with the university-level saxophone studio members and jazz ensembles at Emporia State University.

In January, Alaadeen was a featured performance with the T. S. Monk Sextet at the Gem Theatre in Kansas City. March 2004 will find Alaadeen performing at the Blue Room jazz club in Kansas City during their “Tribute to Charlie Parker Week" on the 27th. A performance featuring Alaadeen, Bobby Watson, Jim Mair, Hal Melia, Logan Richardson on saxophones, along with a stellar rhythm section.

Saxophonist and Composer - Alaadeen has been performing professionally since 1950 - starting as a teenager. He has performed with so many of the great names in music - starting with Jazz and Blues legends Billie Holiday, Miles Davis, Jay McShann, Ella Fitzgerald, The Count Basie Orchestra, The Duke Ellington Orchestra, Eddie"Cleanhead" Vinson, and Sam Cooke. Alaadeen has played with various Motown stars like: Gladys Knight, Smokey Robinson, The Temptations; as well as jazz contemporaries like: T. S. Monk, George Duke, Bobby Watson, and Patti Austin.
