Jazz Terrassa Club dAmics de les Arts i JJ.MM can announce some other names of the artists that will appear in the new edition of Terrassas International Jazz Festival, that will take place from 5th to 30th march 2003. Trumpeter Jon Faddis will be encharged of the openning night as leader of The Trumpet Summit Band.
The 22nd Terrassas Jazz Festival its ready to begin next 5th march, when it will be officially inaugurated. The first of the concerts will be 6th march in the club Nova Jazz Cava (Terrassa, Barcelona) with the Jon Faddis project, The Trumpet Summit Band, in which also take part Terell Stafford and Claudio Roditi.
This year, the Blues Night will bring us the chance to hear Elvin Bishop, who has not been playing in Spain for 10 years now. Bishop, who comes to Terrassa directly from the United States only because he accepted Jazz Terrassas organitation invitation, will play 7th march. The nigh will conclude with the catalan guitarrist Agustí Mas, leadering the Agustí Mas Blues Ensemble.
Another important name of this year Festival that you can add to the allready announced Branford Marsalis, Erik Truffaz and Gary Bartz- is Frank Wess, who will play with Big Band Jazz Terrassa on 8th march. Wess, one of the most reputated saxophonists in New York who played in Count Basies Orchestra, has accepted Big Band Jazz Terrassas invitation to pay homage to Count Basie and Glenn Miller, due to their 100 anniversary. Big Band jazz Terrassa will play the original Basies arrangements, that Wess will bring with him from the States. This is a co-production between Jazz Terrassa and Associació de Músics de Jazz i Música Moderna de Catalunya i Ressons.
National figures as saxophonist Perico Sambeat and baterist Guillermo McGill, internationally known as two of the best in their instrument, will be playing in a double session on 26th march.
