The Philadelphia Clef Club of Jazz on the Avenue of the Arts is back and bigger and better than ever for Spring/Summer 2014 with Two Amazing Summer Concert Performances with Bernard Purdie and Joey DeFrancesco.

Philadelphia, PA: PCC of Jazz is revving up for the 2014 Spring/Summer Season with two incredible concert performances featuring First, Bernard Purdie,world-renown drummer and one of the most influential musicians and bandleaders of our time will play a special two-night engagement and a one-day drum clinic on June 20th & 21st. Then, experience the Philadelphia Jazz Highlight of 2014 - Philadelphia's Own, Joey DeFrancesco in a One-Night-Only Performance on Jimmy Smith's authentic organ at The Philadelphia Clef Club of Jazz & Performing Arts on Friday, June 27th.

Tickets for Bernard Purdie and Joey DeFrancesco shows are 7:30pm and 10pm each night. AdvanceTickets are $25 for members and $30 for non- members. As the World's Most Recorded Drummer, Bernard Purdie has played on over 500 number one hits over the last 50 years. To limit his work to one category would be a travesty of justice to his genius, influential and innovative composing, band leading and sheer talent. He has been the backbone of countless hits in the Jazz, Pop, Soul, Rock, Latin and Country genres. He is known for his strict musical time and has created signature styles playing with the best. Purdie has left his indelible artistic stamp on the music of our time such as the iconic Shaft soundtrack as well as The Beatles'Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. His classic soul arrangements with James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Louis Armstrong, Count Basie, Steely Dan, Hall & Oats and the Beatles make him an Iconic Musical Figure and an American Living Legend.

Joey DeFrancesco, a two-time Grammy Nominee, Down Beat Critics Poll & Readers Poll winner year after year, is recognized as the Master of the Jazz Organ. With over 30 recordings as a leader and collaborations with many of the top names in modern jazz, Joey DeFrancesco is one of the current jazz scene's true trailblazers. Joey DeFrancesco's performance is part of PCC of Jazz & Performing Arts HomeGrown Series.

Philadelphia Clef Club says it is approaching this season with new vigor to get back to the top as a leading jazz venue and treasured institution in the City of Philadelphia. PCC of Jazz is implemented in Mayor Nutter’s Five-Year Plan for Art and Culture in The City of Philadelphia. Additionally, in the next two years we are planning some of the most exciting events Philadelphia has experienced. In 2015, PCC of Jazz will celebrate 20 years on the Avenue of The Arts and in 2016 The Original Clef Club will celebrate 50 years as an organization. The Philadelphia Clef Club of Jazz & Performing Arts was founded in 1966 as an outgrowth of the Black Musicians Local 274 of the American Federation of Musicians. It is the city's oldest organization devoted entirely to Jazz and music education.
