Joe Lovano
Joe Lovano appeared on NBC/New York Nightly News Tuesday, February 12, 2013 in the New York City area on “New York Nonstop" cable station. It reaches 5 million homes.

The interview and performance promoted the Joe Lovano Us Five show in The Allen Room at Jazz at Lincoln Center on Feb 22-23—and his new Blue Note release “Cross Culture."

Jazz at Lincoln Center celebrates its 25th Anniversary Season with saxophonist/composer Joe Lovano and his group Us Five on February 22-23 in The Allen Room. Joe Lovano Us Five featuring James Weldon (piano), GRAMMY winner Esperanza Spalding (bass), Peter Slavov (bass), Otis Brown III (drums) and Francisco Mela (drums), plus special guests Lionel Loueke (guitar) and Judi Silvano (vocals) will perform selections from the group’s new CD Cross Culture, Lovano’s 23rd Blue Note recording and third consecutive collaboration with the critically acclaimed double-drummer quintet. “Lionel doesn’t just play guitar,” Lovano says, “he freely integrates himself with the rhythm section and with me in the front line, and shares the space in a personal way.”

Hailed by the New York Times as “one of the greatest musicians in jazz history,” GRAMMY winner Lovano has a rich history with Jazz at Lincoln Center dating back to 1994. His performances include more than 15 appearances in Alice Tully Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, Stanley H. Kaplan Penthouse, Rose Theater and The Allen Room, and more than 10 engagements at Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola. Lovano’s diverse programs at JALC include a duet performance with Hank Jones in Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola, as a member of the SFJAZZ Collective, and the annual Playing Our Parts benefit concert. Most recently, Lovano appeared on JALC’s Music of the Tenor Masters concert in March 2012.
