The 14th annual Jazz Journalists Association Jazz Awards will be presented June 14 2010 at City Winery in New York City. Save the date!

The  afternoon gala will feature live music and a reception; the highlight of the event will be the announcement and presentation of awards for excellence in some forty categories of jazz music, recording, and journalism. Program details will be announced and tickets --available to the public-- will go on sale soon.

So that winners of the Awards will be known immediately everywhere, plans are also in formation to hold Jazz Awards support parties in Chicago and Los Angeles at the same time. These parties will be connected online to the New York event (and will be easy to organize, so if you'd like to hold one in your area, email us at [email protected]. It's a great way to raise the profile of local jazz.)

After three years of highly successful Awards events at the Jazz Standard, three years of parties before that at B.B. King's Blues Club and Grill, and previous events at Birdland, the Knitting Factory, South Street Seaport and Alice Tully Hall of Lincoln Center, the JJA's move to City Winery, a beautiful performance, dining and drinking venue created by entrepreneur Michael Dorf (a founding partner of the JJA Jazz Awards) will be accompanied by a new format devised to increase attention to the Awards and also host a larger audience of Awards celebrants. Tickets for the entire event, including Awards presentations, refreshments and music, will be sold separately from tickets for the reception only.

The JJA is currently organizing an exciting roster of performers and a celebrity MC, and enlisting major sponsorship for the Awards.

Finalists for the 14th annual JJA Jazz Awards, and new inductees into the JJA's “A Team" of activists, advocates, altruists, aiders and abetters of jazz will be announced on April 15. Further information about  the Jazz Awards program in New York, parties elsewhere and ticket sales will be posted soon. You can signup to  get the news by RSS, email, Facebook or Twitter,  or visit the Awards website.
