The Jim Hall Quartet: Live at Birdland was recorded live at Birdland in New York City on November 10-11, 2010. This live album superbly captures the experience of hearing this world-class quartet at the legendary jazz venue. The album features Jim Hall originals “Furnished Flats,” “Big Blues,” and the collaborative composition “Friendly Recollections” co-written by Joey Baron. The quartet also offers interpretations of “St. Thomas,” “Chelsea Bridge,” “All The Things You Are,” and Cavaquinho's “Beija Flor.” A testament to Jim Hall's continuing genius, subtlety, and inspiration as an improviser, this album is an essential addition to Hall's catalog of live recordings.
