Jessye Norman, Vocal Phenomenon, Performs in Benefit Concert March 12 --Tickets on Sale Now

GRAMMY award-winning soprano Jessye Norman, will perform at a special benefit concert March 12, 2006 at 5:00 p.m. at the Eastman Theatre in Rochester, NY.

All proceeds from the concert will benefit the non-profit community organization Action for a Better Community, Inc. (ABC), which is celebrating its 40th anniversary of building new beginnings for people in poverty.

Tickets are on sale now and are $35, $50 and $75. Patron tickets are $100 and include a VIP reception with Miss Norman following the concert. Student tickets are $25. Long acknowledged as possessing one of the world's most beautiful voices, Miss Norman, whose brother James Norman is the President and CEO of Action for a Better Community, has also been recognized worldwide for her remarkable humanitarian efforts and artistic accomplishments. This will be her third concert for ABC in ten years.

“I am particularly honored that my sister will be performing in this special benefit concert for ABC," said James Norman. “Her previous performances here have been so warmly received and vitally important to helping us invest in important services that benefit thousands of adults and children who need our services."

About Jessye Norman
Jessye Norman serves on many charitable and arts organizations' Boards of Directors. She is the national spokesperson for the Lupus Foundation and The Partnership for the Homeless, as well as a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts of America.

Miss Norman's distinguished catalogue of recordings has won numerous awards. Her most recent recordings include The Jessye Norman Collection--Brahms / Schumann: Lieder, and The Jessye Norman Collection--Richard Strauss: Lieder, both of which were released internationally in April 2005. Her recording, “Bluebeard's Castle," with Pierre Boulez and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, received the GRAMMY Award for best opera in 1999. In 2000, she released her first jazz CD, “I was Born in Love with You," to wide acclaim.

Miss Norman became the youngest recipient of the United States Kennedy Center Honor in 1997, and was the recipient of the Eleanor Roosevelt Val-Kill Medal in 2000. The Paris National Museum named an orchid for her, and the Amphitheatre and Plaza in her hometown of Augusta, Georgia, have also been named in her honor.

Miss Norman records on the Universal Music Group Label. Details of her program will be announced in September.
