SIRIUS SATELLITE RADIO TO COMMEMORATE JERRY GARCIA'S LIFE AND LEGACY
“Jerry Week" beginning with the anniversary of his birth on August 1

WHAT: SIRIUS' Grateful Dead channel to celebrate Jerry Garcia with nine days of special programming devoted to the life of the legendary Grateful Dead frontman. Beginning August 1, Garcia's birthday, and ending August 9, the anniversary of his death, the Grateful Dead channel will commemorate the life and legacy of Jerry Garcia with music, interviews, talk shows and concerts.



“Jerry Week" will feature music from Garcia's various bands and side projects including the Jerry Garcia Band, Legion of Mary and Old & In The Way. Garcia's solo work and collaborations with Merl Saunders, Howard Wales, David Grisman and others will also be highlighted. The nine day special will also showcase concerts and “Jerry Memories" anecdotes and stories from prominent artists in the Grateful Dead family and SIRIUS listeners.





Additionally, Garcia's once wife and longtime companion, Carolyn “Mountain Girl" Garcia, will share stories and memories of the legendary music icon.

MORE: The Grateful Dead Channel which launched exclusively on SIRIUS Satellite Radio last year, features music spanning the band's career with unreleased concert recordings and original shows hosted by band members Bob Weir, Mickey Hart, and Bill Kreutzmann. The channel also features rare archival interviews with Jerry Garcia and contributions from Grateful Dead expert David Gans and Dead archivist David Lemieux.
