Jeffrey Hayden Shurdut is the founder of THIS IS THE MUSIC OF LIFE: A series featuring both inter-disciplinary and multi-instrumental artists who have a place in American History and emerging artists dedicated to documenting the essential connection between the visual, movement, music, and word in a living and creative space. He has lived in Denmark, Sweden, and Norway, been a guest at The University of Pennsylvania, and traveled over 20 countries. Shurdut has recorded with Sonny Simmons, Marshall Allen, Joe McPhee, Luther Thomas, Kalaparusha Maurice McIntyre, Daniel Carter, Frode Gjerstad, and Sabir Mateen, and has performed with Billy Bang, Jameel Moondoc, and Bern Nix. Jeffrey Hayden Shurdut was awarded an instillation for his work from Columbia University's Graduate School of Arts and Sciences in 1993, and is the inventor of Environmental Tuning.
