Jazzed Media, a jazz record label and film production company, has started production of a documentary film on big band jazz legend Woody Herman titled Blue Flame. This is the fourth jazz documentary from filmmaker Graham Carter, owner of Jazzed Media.

Woody Herman was one of the most famous big band leaders from the 1940's swing era who managed to make the transition through various big band jazz music eras including bebop in the late 1940's, rock oriented jazz in the late 1960's and 1970s, and into the 1980s after a resurgence in contemporary big band jazz.

Herman was also responsible for helping bring to fame many jazz stars who got their start on his band —to name only a few: Pete Candoli, Conte Candoli, Flip Phillips, Neal Hefti, Terry Gibbs, Stan Getz, Al Cohn, Zoot Sims, Sal Nistico, Bill Chase, Frank Tiberi, Alan Broadbent, Joe Lovano, and Jeff Hamilton. Essential to the forward-thinking and always contemporary music of the Herds were some of the finest jazz composers/arrangers of the past seven decades including Ralph Burns, Neal Hefti, Shorty Rogers, Gene Roland, Gerry Mulligan, Bill Holman, Nat Pierce, and Alan Broadbent.

Jazzed Media, a jazz record label and film production company, was founded in the Denver, Colorado metropolitan area in 2002. Jazzed Media's owner Graham Carter is a multi-Grammy nominated record producer (The Bill Holman Band Live and The Bill Holman Band Hommage) and award winning jazz filmmaker (Phil Woods A Life in E Flat and Bud Shank Against the Tide). Carter produced the Jazzed Media production Phil Woods A Life in E Flat and produced and directed the Bud Shank documentary Against the Tide. Graham Carter also produced and directed the forthcoming Stan Kenton documentary Artistry in Rhythm that will be released in early 2011.

To date Jazzed Media has released over 50 jazz CDs and DVDs. Jazzed Media is distributed in the U.S. by Allegro Media Group out of Portland, Oregon. Jazzed Media also has distributors in Japan, England, and Spain.
