Jazzed Media is pleased to announce the release of their 50th CD on September 14, 2010- Bob Lark and Friends Cathy's Song.

This is the fourth CD release by jazz trumpeter Lark on the Jazzed Media label. Previous releases include The Bob Lark/Phil Woods Quintet In Her Eyes and The Bob Lark/Phil Woods Quintet Live at the Jazz Showcase.

Bob Lark serves as Chair of the Jazz Studies department at DePaul University. Under his direction the DePaul University Jazz Ensemble has produced several excellent recordings with jazz luminaries including Phil Woods, Clark Terry, Louie Bellson, Bob Brookmeyer, Tom Harrell, Jim McNeely, Frank Wess, Slide Hampton, and Bobby Shew.

Lark also teaches jazz trumpet, jazz pedagogy, and jazz style. Previously he served as the past-president of the Illinois Unit of the IAJE, was the host of the Carmine Caruso International Jazz Trumpet Solo Competition, and chaired the International Trumpet Guild jazz improvisation competition. During the 1990's he directed the Midwest Grammy High School Jazz Band. Finally, Bob holds a Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in performance from the University of North Texas.

The Bob Lark and Friends Cathy's Song CD features beautifully crafted and varied arrangements for jazz nonet, string orchestra with rhythm section, and jazz trio featuring the lyrical flugelhorn and muted trumpet playing of Bob Lark. Performances with jazz artists Phil Woods, Jim McNeely and Rufus Reid result in a provocative and lush recording of note.

Jazzed Media's owner Graham Carter is a multi-Grammy nominated record producer (The Bill Holman Band Live and The Bill Holman Band Hommage) and award winning jazz filmmaker (Phil Woods A Life in E Flat and Bud Shank Against the Tide).
