Registration opens for participation in the trade fair and starting signal is given for showcase applications

It is now possible to register for the 12th jazzahead!, the international jazz scene event, on the new jazzahead! website. Showcase applications can also be submitted from now until 31 October.

Registration opens for world's largest jazz industry event

Exhibitors, co-exhibitors and trade fair participants can now register for jazzahead! 2017. The international jazz industry event will be held for the 12th time at the trade fair centre MESSE BREMEN from 27 to 30 April 2017 and will attract members of the international jazz scene to the Hanseatic City of Bremen.

Showcase applications now invited directly at jazzahead.de

In parallel to the start of registration for the trade fair, it is now also possible to submit applications for the jazzahead! showcase festival for the following modules: Finnish Night (Finland is the jazzahead! partner country for 2017), European Jazz Meeting, German Jazz Expo and Overseas Night. The 40 showcases will be selected by four international panels of judges, comprising festival directors, programme makers and media representatives.

The application period ends on 31 October 2016.

This year applications will be processed via the integrated system on the jazzahead! website. Applications can be submitted by exhibitors and co-exhibitors or trade fair participants (all days), which means musicians themselves can also put their bands forward for the judging process. New to the 2017 programme are the switched places of the modules European Jazz Meeting and Overseas Night / German Jazz Expo: in future the Friday will be dedicated to the European programme, the Saturday afternoon to bands from Germany, and the showcase festival will close on Saturday night with the Overseas Night.

A showcase at jazzahead! provides bands with a specialist international audience and has already proven a far-reaching career boost for many musicians. “The showcase with my band Hildegard Lernt Fliegen was one of the most important moments of my musical career to date. We had the opportunity to present ourselves to a concentrated gathering of the European and international labels, agencies and exhibitors in a very short period of time. As a result of this, countless important doors opened for us in a single evening. I am still benefiting massively from this one concert and I can heartily recommend any band to apply for a showcase!," says Andreas Schaerer of his showcase concert in 2012 at the 7th jazzahead!. The band Hildegard Lernt Fliegen was one the bands of jazzahead! gala concert in 2016.

More services on the new website

jazzahead! has redesigned its website in time for the start of its 12th year. From now on more services for trade fair visitors and information for the public will be available at jazzahead.de. For example, it is now easier to contact other participants via the communication system and to find more information, music, videos of participating bands and more in the run up to the event.

jazzahead! is the largest international jazz event with a showcase festival that is also open to the general public. In 2016 the trade fair was attended by around 2,800 trade fair participants and 969 exhibitors as well as around 15,000 visitors to the concert programme at the trade fair weekend.

Each year jazzahead! presents a partner country—in the coming year Finland will be displaying its diverse jazz scene at the trade fair.
