JAZZ VOCALIST ROBIN ALEMAN TO RELEASE DEBUT CD AUGUST 8TH
NYC based vocal jazz artist Robin Aleman will release her debut CD on Monday, August 8th, 2005. The CD, entitled Tonight, features some of the best young talent in the scene today: David Epstein on piano, Bob Sabin on bass and Peter Retzlaff on drums. Also playing is guitarist Pete Smith, featured on 2 of the 14 tracks.
A native of New York, Robin Aleman’s smooth vocals have been engaging audiences for the past 5 years. She has been performing steadily in the tri-state area, filling houses wherever she plays with her original arrangements.
Tonight features classic standards by a wide variety of songwriters – Brubeck, Jobim, Monk and Ellington, to name a few. Robin’s natural sense of timing serves her well on a couple of odd-meter arrangements, as evidenced on Tea For Two" and Some Day My Prince Will Come". Hidden gems are rediscovered, as with All Through the Night" by Johnny Mercer & Arthur Schwartz, which on this CD is combined with the Cole Porter tune of the same name.
