Chicago jazz lovers are marking their calendars for the annual JazzFest Heritage Music Weekend, on August 5, 6 and 7 at South Shore Cultural Center. For 24 Years, Jazz Unites has brought the world’s best jazz, blues and Latin jazz musicians to the South Side—free to the public. This year 50,000 are expected to attend the always relaxed and friendly outdoor event by the shore of Lake Michigan--an event which is loved by musicians as well as the fans.
On Friday August 5, JazzFest kicks off with a new event––the “We Love You Madly” Awards Gala. Receiving awards for working to promote the appreciation of jazz in non-musical fields of endeabvor are Congressman John Conyers, and musician, educator, and network correspondent Billy Taylor along with many local Chicago celebrities.
For tickets to the black-tie gala and information about this year's line-up of JazzFest Weekend performers, contact Jazz Unites Inc. at 773-734-2000 or visit www.jazzunitesinc.org.
