Dusseldorf club-hopping with a jazzy twist

A unique concept among jazz festivals, Duesseldorf's Jazz Rally an established international jazz event highlight.

DUSSELDORF, GERMANY - There is no shortage of jazz festivals, but the annual “Jazz Rally" in Dusseldorf (2010 dates: May 21 23), now in its 18th year, is unique in its format and style, and its success speaks for itself. Visitors can “hop" from concert to concert, a total of 70 concerts in 30 venues, on one ticket.

Dusseldorf has what's known as the “longest bar in the world" - rows and rows of pubs and restaurants in the city's historic old town, more than 260 of them in under a mile, and bar-hopping might as well have been invented here. All year long, visitors and locals alike enjoy the short distances from bar to bar, and on many nights, the old town seems like one big party place for eating and drinking. It was a natural step to offer the same options and convenience for jazz lovers. 30 stages all over the city, many of them in walking distance from each other, turn Dsseldorf into one large jazz venue for the weekend.

Jazz lovers can purchase a “Jazz-Rally-Button" in advance an all-access event pass between Euro 24 30 for admission to all scheduled concerts for the entire weekend. Day passes are available at Euro 20 - 25. Children up to 14 years of age are admitted free of charge. The program features 70 bands and 400 musicians and besides jazz includes funk, soul, blues, and rock performances.
