REEDS & DEEDS II RETURNS FOR A SECOND SEASON ON WECB

After an outstanding debut, Lydia Liebman's “Reeds & Deeds II" is returning for a second season on January 23rd, 2011. “Reeds & Deeds II" is broadcast on WECB Online Radio from Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts. Bringing jazz beyond the college campus, Liebman's weekly Sunday evening broadcasts include a mix of tunes from new releases, rare recordings, book readings, current tour updates and exclusive interviews with current jazz musicians.

Some highlights from last season included interviews with Dave Liebman, George Garzone and Mermans Kenkosenki as well as book readings from Geoff Dyer's book, But Beautiful in celebration of Thelonious Monks birthday. The program also featured never-before-heard live recordings of John Coltrane in 1963.

Next season, “Reeds & Deeds II" will play more rare recordings and feature interviews with Grammy nominated vocalist Gregory Porter, saxophonist Phil Woods, and UK trumpeter Jay Phelps with more to be announced.

“Reeds & Deeds II" takes its name from Liebman's father, world-renowned saxophonist Dave Liebman, who had his own radio show at NYU during his college career. The name originates from Roland Kirk's album of the same name.

Lydia Liebman is a jazz vocalist studying at Emerson College and Berklee College of Music.
