Jazz Piano Great, DICK HYMAN, and
Turkish State Artist, MERAL GUNEYMAN
at Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall
October 29, 2004
The newly formed piano duo of Guneyman and Hyman are presenting Playful Virtuosity on 29 October, 2004, at 7:30 P.M., at Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall.
Both world-renowned pianists, Guneyman and Hyman, will join together in a mutual show of virtuosity - each drawing on their individual, yet complementary, skills. The program will feature two premieres of works by Dick Hyman and a rare performance of Earl Wild's Gershwin song arrangements.
The Hyman works include his Piano Concerto in its New York premiere, and his Indiana Variations in its world premiere.
Ms. Guneyman and Mr. Hyman met when she recorded his Jazz Etudes in the Styles of the Jazz Masters. While she was preparing to play other works by Mr. Hyman on the October 29th Zankel concert, the two artists realized they had extraordinary abilities as a duo-piano team. The Zankel Hall concert was immediately changed from a solo event by Ms. Guneyman to a collaboration with Mr. Hyman.
