Free jazz concerts will heat up the headquarters location of the Monmouth County Library in November when the library presents Jazz Month 2008. The month-long event features four jazz concerts on Sundays, November 9 through November 30 at 2 pm.
This year's concert series will begin with The Inventions Trio on November 9. The trio features pianist Bill Mays, trumpeter/flugelhornist Marvin Stamm, and cellist Alisa Horn. These classically trained jazz masters will perform fresh interpretations of wellknown classical themes, jazz classics and original works.
The Mark Sherman Quintet will perform on November 16. Sherman, a vibraphonist and composer, as well as a Yamaha performing artist, has 30 years of recording, composing and performing experience with orchestras, jazz artists and vocal artists. Sherman brings his quintet featuring Joe Magnarelli on trumpet, Allen Farnham on piano, Dean Johnson on bass, and Tim Horner on drums to the library.
Giacomo Gates and Trio will perform on November 23 featuring Gates, Tony Lombardozzi, Rufus Reid and Steve Johns.
