Is this Carnegie Hall?

No. But it could be, due to the illustrious and legendary jazz greats that The Jazz Mentors Program continues to bring to the area, in order to pass the torch to our kids, and to those young at heart.

Legends in Jazz--Maynard Ferguson, Phil Woods, John Coates Jr., Lew Tabackin, The Woody Herman Orchestra under the direction of Frank Tiberi, Billy Hart, and the Rutgers Music professors Mike Richmond and Stanley Cowell--are all headed to the state of the art Performance Center in Skillman New Jersey.

Is this a new concert hall? No, again. It is the new, beautifully appointed Montgomery High School, 1016 Rt. 601, Skillman NJ. 08558.

These giants of jazz will not only be in concert from 8-10 PM on separately appointed days, but will also be offering teaching seminars in the late afternoon to those students fortunate enough to be on board for this unique, and very special program.

The Jazz Mentors Program, having last brought world renowned jazz musicians including Peter Erskine (drummer for the Austin Powers and Mission Impossible 3 movies as well as Weather Report), Randy Brecker (The Brecker Brothers), Lou “Blue Lou" Marini (The Blues Brothers, and Saturday Night Live), Bob Sheppard (Steely Dan), Gil Goldstien, Steve Cardenas (Nora Jones' guitarist), Dave Carpenter (Los Angeles based film/TV studio musician), and Professor Clay Jenkins (Eastman School of Music), once again raises the bar for our students, and offers this amazing venue at an affordable price and a realistic summer schedule.

The Seminar/Concert includes a 4:00 pm Masters Concert (for the student body), workshops with the stars from 4:30-6:00 pm, followed by a catered dinner in the atrium cafeteria from 6:00-7:00 pm. A “Meet and Greet the Mentors" reception will be held from 7:00- 7:30 and the Concert (ticket included) will take place from 8:00-10:00 pm. All this and an official Jazz Mentors t-shirt (very sought after) for $150.00 (plus tax).

Concert tickets, for the evening performances are equally within reach with ticket prices being $20.00 for adults, $15.00 for students and seniors, and $10.00 for groups of ten or more.
