Appearing on Wednesday October 13th at the Palombaro Club, 2632 E. County Line Road in Ardmore, PA, will be saxophonist Michael Pedicin, Jr. and his band, featuring pianist Dean Schneider, bassist Tim Lekan, and drummer Bobby Shomo. One show: 7:30-9PM. Tickets: $10/$5 for students. No advance sales. Free Refreshments! For info: 215-517-8337

This opening concert will kick off a new jazz series at the Palombaro Club from October 2010 through May 2011 that will be hosted by Michael Pedicin and will feature well-known jazz and blues artists from the Greater Philadelphia Metro area.

Interestingly, jazz saxophonist and recording artist Michael Pedicin first gig was at the Palombaro Club when he was 13 years old and the leader of Michael Pedicin and the Flames. After so many memories and years, this historic Italian-American social club, in the heart of the neighborhood where Pedicin grew up, is where he has decided to host a new Jazz Bridge Neighborhood Jazz Series. It is expected that many of his old friends and neighbors from Ardmore will be at the first concert to wish him well.

Since playing for dances at the Palombaro as a lad, Pedicin has recorded and performed with many jazz and pop giants through the last three decades, including Maynard Ferguson, Dave Brubeck, Peter Erskine, Stanley Clarke, David Bowie, Stevie Wonder, Frank Sinatra, The Funk Brothers, Gino Vanelli, and Pat Martino. Michael's debut album, Michael Pedicin Jr., was cut for PIR/CBS Records in 1980, followed by City Song (1987), Angles (1989), You Don't Know What Love Is (1992), Because of Love (1996) and Downtown Found (2002). His latest CD Everything Starts Now has been getting rave reviews

This concert is sponsored by Jazz Bridge, a 501(c)3 nonprofit that assists our local jazz and blues musicians in crisis. We also ask attendees to bring their old cell phones and ink-jet cartridges to the concert as Jazz Bridge is partnering with Planet Green to encourage recycling and to make additional money for our musicians!

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, shelter in place and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary effort that will help musicians now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the bottom right video ad). Thank you.
